• Domaine Ernest Burn - Clos Saint-Imer

On the outskirts of Gueberschwihr - one of the most beautiful villages south of Colmar, with its Romanesque bell tower and proud Renaissance houses - the Clos Saint-Imer vineyard stretches from 270 to 350 m above sea level, on a steep (40-50%), south-east-facing hillside, with plots bordered by limestone levees dating back to the original land-clearing and retaining the sun's heat: This privileged microclimate explains the exceptional quality of Clos Saint-Imer wines, making them recognizable to wine-lovers today as they were yesterday. The "Le Dauphin" cuvées come from the estate's old vines. A golden glow for the Grand Cru "Goldert" lieu-dit, whose evocative name prefigures the gold of Clos Saint-Imer's exceptional terroir, which crowns it! The pre-Romanesque chapel built in the heart of the Clos between 1985 and 1988, in accordance with Ernest Burn's wishes, gives its name to the estate's emblematic cuvées. This quality is also due to the exacting approach adopted by Ernest Burn and passed on to his family: a profound respect for nature in accordance with the principles of sustainable viticulture, manual labor, limited yields, selective harvesting at optimum ripeness, traditional vinification allowing each cuvée to compose its own harmony - and each person to find, vintage after vintage, in a range of beauty, the wine that pleases them.
