Exhibition: From Earth to Light: Two Centuries of Archaeology in AlsaceThe exhibition at Neuenbourg Castle, *From Earth to Light: Two Centuries of Archaeology in Alsace*, traces the evolution of archaeological practices and methods from the 19th century to the present day. It highlights major sites in the Guebwiller region:
Hugstein, the Neolithic settlement discovered in the Soultz industrial zone, the burial sites at Merxheim, the former convent at Schwarzenthann, religious heritage sites such as the Dominican Order in Upper Alsace, and various Romanesque churches.
It also aims to illustrate the evolution of archaeological fields: from Gallo-Roman sites and fortified castles excavated by scholars in the 19th century to landscape archaeology and the study of contemporary conflicts in the 21st century.
The exhibition will also feature iconic artifacts selected by Archéologie Alsace as part of its traveling exhibition created for its twentieth anniversary.
Exhibition organized by the “Pays d’art et d’histoire” Department of the Guebwiller Regional Community of Communes in partnership with Archéologie Alsace.

Through two information panels, the Hartmannswillerkopf site is revealed from new perspectives: was it a prehistoric site? Recent archaeological research on World War I has provided additional insights into life in the trenches.
