From Pope Leon IX to the "Favorite Village of the French" ...
During your stay in the Guebwiller region, you really must find time to visit Eguisheim!
Nestling in the vineyards south of Colmar, this village is one of the most beautiful in the region and was voted “France’s favourite village” in 2013. It’s only a 20-minute drive away, so it’d be a pity to miss it!
A trip to Eguisheim isn’t complete without a visit to the Place du Marché to see the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church and its superb saddle-roof porch. At Christmas time, the village is shrouded in a magical atmosphere. A beautiful Christmas craft market occupies the village squares and the little streets become a fairyland of decorations and lights.
“To enjoy a pleasant late-afternoon stroll or sip a warming mulled wine in winter, Eguisheim is the place to be! Tip: Eguisheim gets very busy, especially in the summer season and at Christmas, so come early in the morning or late in the afternoon, preferably on a weekday, and avoid the school holidays!”Further information on Eguisheim at: www.tourisme-eguisheim-rouffach.com
Vincent comes from the Guebwiller region and enjoys travelling all over Alsace photographing the best landscapes and seeking out the region’s best vintages! I’ve lived in the Florival region for... 32 years. As a digital communications manager, I love singing the praises of this “little corner of Alsace” during my guided tours or through this website and the social media. I love pictures (as in photography) and am also an events manager. In fact, you’re likely to see me at the Guebwiller Wine Fair (on Ascension Thursday) where I’ll be feasting my musical ears on the concerts and enjoying the tasting sessions.
